1. Promise about changing life
◆ Exodus 3:7~10
7 The LORD said: I have seen how my people are suffering as slaves in Egypt, and I have heard them beg for my help because of the way they are being mistreated. I feel sorry for them, 8 and I have come down to rescue them from the Egyptians. I will bring my people out of Egypt into a country where there is good land, rich with milk and honey. I will give them the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live. 9 My people have begged for my help, and I have seen how cruel the Egyptians are to them. 10 Now go to the king! I am sending you to lead my people out of his country.

● Let’s hear the following story. God had promised to give the land of Canaan to descendants of Abraham aroud 2100BC. Children and grand children of Abraham had lived nomads of Canaan moved to Egypt because of the great famine at 1875 BC. Because Joseph was the prime minister of Egypt, the people of Israel was safe from Egyptians and flourished. However, after Joseph dead, the Hyksos dynasty begun to think Israel as a dangerous to Egypt, so Egyptians controlled baby born of Israelites. Finally, people of Israel cried their painful out to God, and the story of the Exodus begins with the God who heard this people’s cried. —————————
2. Changing life – from life of slave to life of freeman
◆ Exodus 13:17-22
17 After the king had finally let the people go, the LORD did not lead them through Philistine territory, though that was the shortest way. God had said, “If they are attacked, they may decide to return to Egypt.” 18 So he led them around through the desert and toward the Red Sea. The Israelites left Egypt, prepared for battle. 19 Moses had them take along the bones of Joseph, whose dying words had been, “God will come to your rescue, and when he does, be sure to take along my bones.” 20 The people of Israel left Succoth and camped at Etham at the border of Egypt near the desert. 21-22 During the day the LORD went ahead of his people in a thick cloud, and during the night he went ahead of them in a flaming fire. That way the LORD could lead them at all times, whether day or night.

Moses had received an order to rescue the people of Israel. Now he stands in front of the Pharaoh of Egypt. Moses requests Pharaoh to allow the people of Israel to worship the God. However the Pharaoh does not allow that the people of Israel who are working in Egypt go out. In such a situation the God shows the amazing 10 plagues in Egypt by Moses. Let’s think about this story that amazing 10 plagues of the God to save the people of Israel through the activities.
1) The Nile River Turns into Blood (7:14-24) 2) Frogs (7:25-8:15) 3) Gnats (8:16-19) 4) Flies (8:20-32) 5) Dead Animals (9:1-7) 6) Sores (9:8-12) 7) Hailstones (9:22-30) 8) Locusts(10:12-20) 9) Darkness(10:21-23) 10) Death for the First-Born Sons (12:29-34)
As result, Egyptian would let Israelites went from Egypt because they had experienced these 10 plagues. The people of Islael were not slaves anymore. They were freeman. ———————————————–
3. Life changing power – the word of God
* Acts 9:1-19 1. Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2. And asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. 3. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” 5. “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. 6. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” 7. The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone. 8. Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus. 9. For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything. 10. In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord,” he answered. 11. The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. 12. In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.” 13. “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem. 14. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.” 15. But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. 16. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.” 17. Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord–Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here–has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18. Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, 19. And after taking some food, he regained his strength. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.
* 2 Timothy 3:15-17 15. And how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17. So that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
1) Introduction
** What does mean God’s words? Let’s read John 1:1-14 together.
< What does the Bible say about it?>
In the Gospel of John, it is written that the Word was with the God in the beginning and the Word was the God. Also, it is stated that the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. What is “the Word”? As you know, the Word is Jesus.
2) Main content
** Saint Paul changed through the Word Let’s read Acts 9:1-19 together. Read it carefully and make a play with this story.
Understanding through playing Do rock, paper, scissors in pairs and divide into two teams through the result of it; losers and winners. Write a play scenario and assign a part to each as teams. Then perform their own play.
